The fourth codon has a mutation changing a uac to a uag. what effect will this have on the protein?

    The effect of this to the protein is that the protein would not be made due to coding for a nonsense codon. This situation is an example of nonsense mutation. This is a mutation where a sense codon that corresponds with one of the twenty-one amino acids that is specified by the genetic code is altered to a chain - terminating codon. Thus, the protein will not be created.
