I believe the answer is muscle spasm. Muscle spasm is a protective response to injury and fracture and an irritation of the tissues. It is also an involuntary contraction of the muscles. These spasms may prevent the fracture from reducing spontaneously or even displace a non-displaced fractured.

It is a kind of irritation of tissues and protective response to injury and fracture; muscle spasm may displace a nondisplaced fracture or prevent it from reducing spontaneously.
