What makes apparent magnitude different from absolute brightness? Give an example in your response.

    Apparent magnitude

    the magnitude of a star as it appears to an observer on the earth. and absolute brightness is the apparent brightness a star would have if it were placed at a standard distance of 10 parsecs from Earth

    ex of apparent magnitude.

    The comet of 1652, so carefully observed by Hevelius, almost equaled themoon in apparent magnitude.
