This illustration of the great ocean conveyor belt shows the movement of surface ocean currents around the globe. What is the effect of these currents on Earth's temperatures? Weather patterns are more rainy in the south due to the cool currents. There are constantly changing conditions at the equator as a result. Temperatures are more stable across the globe due to these cyclical currents. Global temperatures constantly decrease due to the movement of warm currents.
