How does isolating protein using ion-exchange affect the protein?

    Ion exchange method affect the solubility and function of protein, and proteins can be separated on the basis of the charge they get. If pH is greater than pI of a given protein, that protein gets negative charge and become an anion, and when the pH is less than the pI of that same protein, it gets positive charge and become a cation.
