    Energy at the cellular level is in the form of ATP (adenosine triphosphate). There are three ways to produce ATP: glycolysis, beta oxidation, arobic respiration and oxidative phosphorylation. Glycolysis occurs in the cell cytoplasm. Oxidative phosphorylation and aerobic respiration happen in the cell’s mitochondria. Beta oxidation occurs in the cytosol (for prokaryotes) and in the mitochondria (for eukaryotes).
