In addition to transmission through the outer ear, how else can sound reach the inner ear

    Through the bones of the cranium and face, such as the mastoid process of the temporal bone. Hearing tests involve comparing air conduction of sound through the external ear to the tympanic membrane (eardrum), to bone conduction through cranial (skull) bones.
