Natural selection is a gradual process that happens with the gradual change in environment. Based on the changes in habitat of the population, some of the species of that population are able to survive whereas others are not. Those that survive are selected against others and hence result in dominating the population of that species. Apart from this process, all three, DNA engineering, genetic engineering and selective breeding are under the control of humans and can be manipulated accordingly.
