Ice floats on water. for most other substances however, the solid sinks in the liquid. classify each of these statements as true for water, or true for most other substances.

    · As in the phase diagram, close by is a negative slope in the solid liquid coexistence line. In comparison to liquid the solid is less dense. In the liquid phase the molecules are adjoining. Higher pressure will reason for the solid to turn out to be liquid.

    True for most other substances

    · As in the phase diagram, close by is a positive slope in the solid liquid coexistence line. In comparison to liquid the solid is denser. In the solid phase the molecules are adjoining. Higher pressure will reason for the liquid to turn out to be solid.
