A group of birds is blown from the mainland to a small island during a storm. They remain there and develop into a new population.

I'm not sure what the question is. Dispersal process may be what you're defining though. Plants and animals found on a particular island usually arrived there by a natural dispersal process (which can happen in many ways), in your example by a storm but they can also travel by air or sea.
