Distillation involves boiling of a liquid until it turns to gas, leaving behind impurities which can not vapourise. The vapors will then be re condense to form the original liquid. The process of distillation illustrates the relationship between matter and energy because is show that matter changes state when enough energy is applied in the form of heat. When this heat is removed, then matter will return to its original state.
