An artificial reef has been built from old tires. How could this artificial reef actually be more harmful to the environment than beneficial?

As the tires broke down, they released potentially harmful chemicals into the water.

As smaller animals moved in, they attracted much larger predators.

Such a large pile limits the reproductive success of many invertebrates.

Sediment would settle on the tires and prevent algae growth.
