    In each cell there are two airs of homologous chromosomes--one pair from each parent. The homologous pairs of chromosomes pair up and undergo recombination druring pro-phase of mitosis. Male gametes are haploid, while female gametes are diploid. Female gametes are haploid, while male gametes are diploid
