Processes that cause extinction once population sizes have been severely reduced. Conservation biologists who adopt the small-population approach. Study the processes that can cause very small populations finally to become extinct. A small population approach is an approach concerned with the factors that drive a small population to extinction such as inbreeding, genetic drift, lower reproduction, higher morality, loss of genetic variability and much more. Determining and remedying the cause of its decline would be the best strategy for saving a population that is in an extinction vortex. Small-population approach that is associated with species conservation is minimum variable, extinction vortex and effective population size.
