High clouds appear in the highest levels of the troposphere. They are most brilliant white due to the ice crystals in this level. Sunlight passes through high clouds most of the time as it's thickness is relatively thin. There are three main types of high clouds: cirrus, cirrostratus, and cirrocumulus. These clouds usually develop on says with weather and lighter winds at the surface, generally these clouds do not produce precipitation except in some cases.
