Genotype are letters, for example Hh or TT or ss, that are short cuts that define traits for an animal, such as when someone does a p. square, the genotypes (letters) represent the phenotypes, which are the actually physical traits, for example if the genotypes are Hh and H is black then the phenotype would be Black. They both determine traits.
