What is the advantage of the gram stain over the simple stain?

Gram staining identifies different bacteria types and it separates bacteria into two groups (gram negative and gram positive) based on their cell wall constituents through the use of different special dyes. Simple staining involves the use of a single stain solution and is unable to identify the exact organism.
