State the general relationship between the age of the volcanoes and the distance from Loihi.

    Answer: as the age of the volcanoes increases (older) its distance from Loihi increases (farther) also.

    A study in earth science presents the so-called called Loa Trend. Loa Trend is the table which shows the age of the volcanoes in million years and the distance of the said volcanoes from Loihi. Example: Mauna Loa at 0.2 million years is nearest to Loihi at 70 km away while Kauai is farthest at 4.6 million years and 575 km away from Loihi. The pattern shows that the age of the volcanoes become older (higher) its distance from Loihi is farther (higher) also.
