Why do you suppose the numbers of the fd& c approved food dyes are not consecutive would you expect stain removers to be an acidic or basic solutioin?

    As food dyes are created, they are probably numbered by each batch or specific composition. During the life cycle of creating a releasing a dye, some dyes probably don't make the cut, so some numbers don't get used. I would expect stain removers to be a basic solution, most household cleaners use bleach in them, and bleach is a base.
