Which parts of the water cycle require energy from the sun?

The sun evaporates the water so it can turn into water vapour and rise into the sky to form clouds. As this process keeps happening the clouds grow bigger, causing rain.

We need the sun for the water can go away so basicly the sun evaporates the water
