Why is the friction force considered to be a contact force?

    Friction is a contact force because it acts on something that is rolling, sliding and bouncing on any surface. Friction Acts on something in the opposite direction. Friction sometimes acts in the same direction. Friction does not only affect solids, Friction acts on everything.
