Which of these statements best describes what Charles Darwin observed on the Galápagos Islands? The finches on the islands were the same as the finches in Ecuador. The finch population on each island was unique. The finches could produce offspring only with finches from other islands. The finches on the islands ate seeds and nuts but no insects.

    The finch population on each island was unique. (correct statement) This is due to evolution, the finches beak size is a good example as the nuts on each island were different and the larger/smaller a beak was, it represented a change in the finch population so that they could break open the nuts easier.
