Does primary succession take more or less time than secondary succession? why?

    Primary succession is a longer process than secondary succession, because Primary succession means an ecosystem returns to its earliest (or first) state - thus the primary - whereas secondary succession returns to a earlier state but still retains most of the ecosystem I. e. Soil, or wildlife, or animals.
