The location of the bulbourethral glands in the fetal pig is the same as in humans. However, this gland in humans is much larger.

The main function of the bulbourethral or the cowper's gland is to produce and release the fluid that get rid of any acidicurine in the urethra. The clear fluid neutralizes urine in the urethra so that when a man ejaculates, the sperm in the semen are no destroyed by acidic urine left in the urethra.
