Meiosis is the type of ell division in which haploid cells are produced from parent cells. It occurs only in reproctive cells. Mitosis occurs in somatic cells or body cells in which parent cell divide into two daughter cells containing same number of chromosomes as found in parent cells. Meiosis is important for the production of reproductive cells while mitosis is important for normal body growth.

    Reason:

Cells in meiosis are different from those in mitosis, because meiosis occurs in reproductive cells while mitosis occurs in somatic cells.
