Words have precise meanings in science. Scientific theories and scientific laws both describe an explanation supported by a body of evidence and observations. A theory is valid as long as there is no evidence to contradict it. If found to be wrong, a new theory will take its place. At the time it is made, no exceptions have been found to a law. The word "law" is used less and less in science, as many laws are only true under limited circumstances. There is no absolute truth in science, one of the concepts that make it most useful.
