To which person would this event be of concern? the pollution of the river after the cutting of the old forest.

I would think that a person who used the river water for drinking water would be concerned with this but I think if an old or perhaps old growth forest were cut down then siltation might be more of a problem to the water quality than pollution though might get some minor e-coli from washed down animal faeces if the forest was inhabited by large animals.
