    The individual who is doing this - and this is commendable as self-monitoring is a very important concept in social psychology - is exhibiting performance.

    Because he's achieing and in the process of doing goal-achieving behavior, he is also performing. And with him monitoring his own performance he's importantly contributing to his own future success.
