A client is very anxious and states "i am so stressed." how do stress and anxiety affect the client's safety and ability to retain information

Stress and anxiety affect a person's safety say in driving as one may even go through red lights and not see pedestrians if one is too stressed and preoccupied with worries. Both anxiety and stress can prevent one from living in the moment and therefore not retain information received right at the moment.
