Explanation:

The protein was probably altered in the golgi apparatus. What happens basically is that when a specific gene express into mRNA and that mRNA translates into polypeptide chain and that polypeptide chain is going through modification in endoplasmic reticulum and golgi apparatus and this modification is known as post-translational modification. So that's why this protein is slightly different from the protein made by ER because it further modified at golgi apparatus and then release into cytoplasm.
