    Primary oocytes present in the ovaries of females are diploid cells. These cells undergo unequal cell division. Meiosis-I in the primary oocyte produces two haploid cells. One of these cells is the haploid secondary oocyte which carries most of the cytoplasm and the organelles from the primary oocyte. The other cell is called the polar body. The polar body is very small in size as it gets only a small amount of cytoplasm and the organelles. This ensures that the ovum gets most of the cytoplasm to support the mitosis immediately after fertilization.
