    The hypoglossal nerve is the twelvth cranial nerve. It arise from the hypoglossal nucleus of the medula oblongata of the brain stem. The nerve perform motor function of intrinsic and extrinsic muscle of the tongue except palatoglossus muscle. It contain the preganglionic parasympathetic fibres.

    Fibres from Central nervous system to ganglion are preganglionic fibres. These fibres use acetylcholine as neurotransmitters and they are myelinated.
