You have a planar bilayer with equal amounts of saturated and unsaturated phospholipids. After testing the permeability of this membrane to glucose, you increase the proportion of unsaturated phospholipids in the bilayer. What will happen to the membrane's permeability to glucose?

    Explanation:

    Membranes fluidity increases if there is addition of unsaturated proportion in the membrane. This increase in the fluidity of the membrane the glucose molecules will pass more easily through the cell membrane.

    The cell membrane of the cells are semi permeable as it does not allows all the molecules to pass through it, it allows only certain molecules to pass through it.

    Hence, addition of unsaturated phospholipids in the cell membrane will increase the permeability towards glucose.
