How has the climate of northeastern United States changed over the past 200 million years

    The USA was probably closer to the equator 200 million years ago. Because it was close to the equator, it was probably a warmer, oceanic environment that had coral reefs. A lot of the Midwest has limestone, which forms in shallow sea environments. There's also lots of fossils that are similar to corals in the Midwest. Once the continent started to move with plate tectonics, the climate changed with it.
