    Women became leaders in a range of social and political movements from 1890 through 1920 ... Progressive reformers wanted to end political corruption, improve the lives of individuals, and increase government intervention to protect citizens. The suffrage movement was part of this wave of Progressive Era reforms.

    Female Reformers in the Progressive Era:

    In the late nineties and early twenties, women joined the national organizations in huge numbers. The rise of the National Association of Colored Women, National American Woman Suffrage Association and National Association Opposed to Woman Suffrage grew as the trend part of this era. Rich or poor, black or white or immigrants or any different community women all participated in these above mention women national clubs. The suffrage movement was part of this wave of Progressive Era reforms. The Women's Suffrage Movement politically achieved the Nineteenth Amendment which gave women the "right to vote". Economically: women achieved more educational opportunities for women which led women's economic roles to increase in society. Socially: women began to enter male-dominated professions like law, medicine, clergy and corporate.
