    This is the method which involved the observation of organisms in their natural environment. It is a research method employed by social scientists when it is difficult to carry out laboratory studies, or the latter studies is capital intensive, or the laboratory studies will affect the behaviours of the organisms under study, leading to inaccurate results.

    It gives perfect results because the understudy organism are in their natural habitats, with little or no intervention in natural social life. This may not be possible in laboratory settings. Thus they exhibit natural behaviour / characteristics, desired by the investigator. Generally organism exhibit their true characteristics when placed in natural environments.
