The exponential growth of a population stop when the organisms compete and when the organisms mutate.

The option B and D are correct.

    Explanation:

Exponential growth takes place in a population when resources are in abundant i. e enough nutrient, space etc. is available.

In the presence of limitless resources population or bacterial growth takes place at a high pace but there comes a time when resources become limited, chances of mutations occurs this leads to the stationary growth phase.

The limited resource will lead to nutrient depletion and competition among the individuals of population leading to natural selection.

The mutation may be lethal sometime causing cell or organism to die, this will also cease the population growth.

Exponential growth is important in calculating the birth and death rate when population growth stops.
