    Escherichia coli is a gram negative bacteria that is present in intestines or gut of humans and animals. Most of the E. coli are harmless and plays a vital role in keeping the intestinal tract of humans healthy.

    Explanation:

    The optimum temperature for the growth of E. coli in human intestine is 37 degree Celsius as our body temperature is 37 degree Celsius. The bacteria that grows in such temperature range are called as mesophiles.
