How did short term catastrophic events, such as volcanic eruptions and asteroid collisions affect the climate and biosphere?

    Dust particles and debris from the collision float up into the Earth's atmosphere, thus blocking the sun's rays. When volcanoes erupt, they can cause chemical clouds to linger in the atmosphere, also blocking the sun's natural rays
