Coliform count is a very important test that is done to determine water contamination because the presence of some types of coliform bacteria in the water indicates the presence of sewage or sewage waste.
The group of total coliforms includes several genera, all of which may be of fecal origin. The most common fecal coliform is Escherichia coli
