The term that describes the fusion of cytoplasm from two individuals is known as plasmogamy.

Explanation: Plasmogamy is first of the three stages involved during sexual reproduction of fungi. The two remaining stages are karyogamy and meiosis.

Sexual reproduction in fungi starts with fusion of the cytoplasms from two compatible haploid (n) cells. Thereafter, the haploid nuclei from the two cells fuse to form a diploid (2n) nucleus (otherwise known as the zygote) in a process known as karyogamy. The division of the zygote into four haploid (n) daughter cells follows karyogamy and this completes the sexual reproduction cycle of fungi.
