To determine which allergen a person has been exposed to it is best to use Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA) which is a plate-based assay technique designed for detecting and quantifying substances such as peptides, proteins, antibodies and hormones. This is because using an allergen in a sandwich ELISA will capture the antibodies produced against the allergen.
