Explain why a somatic cell of Genetics introduction has the same number of chromosomes and the same amount of DNA at the beginning of mitotic prophase as one of these cells does at the beginning of prophase I of meiosis?

    The cell division is one of the important aspects of the life of an organism which takes place by either mitotic or by the meiotic way.

    The cell undergoes either of these types of division on the basis of the function they have to perform like the somatic cells are involved in the growth and development and the cell undergoing meiosis has to introduce variation in genetic material and also produce a large number of daughter cells from the single parent cell. These functions are genetically determined.

    In the given question, since the type of cell division is determined by the function therefore the parent cell involved in this division is with the same ploidy and amount of DNA.
