The shortest duration of insolation occurs in month of December and sometime the minimum temperature may also occur in the month. The shortest day of the year is December 21 and insolation at that day is also shortest of the year. If the sun is out for a longer time the temperature will be much greater, because the sun is shining for a greater amount of time.
