Multicellular organisms are made up of different types of differentiated cells. Given that all cells in an organism

have the same DNA-and thus the same genes-explain how it is that different genes can be expressed only in

certain types of cells.

    There are histones in the nucleus that DNA coils around. The part of the DNA that is coiled around the histones is not accessible, and cannot be expressed in that cell. DNA that is not wrapped around a histone can be transcribed.
