Explain, using at least three reasons why the following scenario is a problem for farming.

Situation: A news report stated that many species are facing extinction. The major animals that pollinate our crops are

diminishing, which is causing the farmers to use more artificial means to fertilize the plants.

1. Less species pollinating affects the rate of reproduction of plants which eventually leads to their extinction

2. If major species become extinct it could negatively affect the food chain. For example if a predator species dies, it could lead to infestation of mice or an insect that destroys crops

3. Switching to more artificial methods means that farming become less profitable as more money is spent on growing plants so less people farm increasing food prices across the globe
