This statement is false. Borders of plates do change when they shift and the shifting of plates is inevitable.

    FALSE

    Explanation:

The plates that are referred to here are the lithospheric plates. These plates are divided into 2 types, namely the continental plate and the oceanic plate. These plates move over the less dense layer of the asthenosphere because of the convection current that forms in the mantle. This current initiates because of the heat energy that is radiated from the interior of the earth.

The borders (boundaries) of these plates are destroyed when they strike another plate, as a result of which a convergent plate boundary forms, and are marked by the presence of deep-sea trenches and active volcanism. These plates also form divergent and transform type of boundary.

Thus, the boundaries of these large and small plates are constantly affected due to tectonic activities.

Hence, the above-given statement is False.
