During the hyperpolarization phase of the action potential, when the membrane potential is more negative than the resting membrane potential, what happens to voltage-gated ion channels?

    Hyperpolarization occurs when the change in a cell's membrane potential, due to the opening of potassium channels, (K + migrate outside and Cl - migrates inside) makes it more negative and Na + channels close.
