    Firstly, mitochondria have their own cell membranes, as seen in prokaryotic cell.

    Secondly, Each mitochondrion has its own circular DNA genome, as seen in bacteria's genome.

    Thirdly, mitochondria multiply by dividing into half, as also seen in bacteria.

    However, this aforementioned traits show independent living abilities of mitochondria (in an eukaryotic cell). Based on facts accumulated, mitochondria support endosymbiosis in the eukaryotic cell.
