Nevertheless It is highly unlikely that any model used in a classroom is a properly scaled model because the earth fits 30 times inside the moon's orbit and 12000 times in earth's orbit around the sun. So if the earth is represented as a 1 centimeter circle the entire model would have to be 240 meters wide! (More that 2 football fields)

The Sun is too small. The Sun is 109 times bigger in diameter than Earth. If the Earth in the model has a 6" in diameter, then the Sun must be 6" X 109 in diameter.
